30 frames per second

At launch the game runs at 30 fps on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.

In August 2026, Rockstar confirmed that both consoles run the game at 30 frames per second at launch. That differs from the 60 frames of GTA V on the same generation. A performance mode has not been announced.

The target fits the scale Rockstar describes. The New York Times reported more than 600,000 animations, against about 55,000 in GTA V, and a world three times the playable area of Red Dead Redemption 2.

Sony's marketing says the game 'plays best on PS5.' That is a co-marketing line, not a technical spec. A PS5 Pro mode has not been announced.
